Youth Outreach has been playing an active role in the provision of services and assistance to Stellenbosch's vulnerable youth since 1997. It started as services to street children but has since developed into two Children's Homes and two Drop-in centres where nutrition, school support, clothing, family reunification and therapeutic services are offered with care.

The increase in poverty and a weakening economy, forces Youth Outreach to provide for more children dependent on our services. Furthermore, everybody was severely affected by the COVID-19 crisis, especially the most vulnerable communities amongst us. Therefore, a larger number of vulnerable children knock on the door every month for services. We can and may not turn a hungry child away! But that does mean that we had to delve into our reserve funds, which are unsustainable. In addition, government subsidies unfortunately do not keep pace with the accompanying impoverished and unemployed community.

Donations of goods are very welcome, but we need money to maintain the services of our 2 social workers and 10 Youth Care Workers to physically and emotionally care for 80+ children monthly.  2400 meals are prepared monthly for hungry children - in many respects that are their only security!

Therefore, Youth Outreach needs 50 Stellenbosch residents who are willing to put their hands deep in their pockets and each donate R1000 per month, or make an annual, onetime donation of R12, 000. Each donor receives an 18A certificate for tax benefits.

This valuable donation will not only help us to maintain our Children's Homes and Drop-ins, but it will also help Youth Outreach to make a bigger and more sustainable impact on the lives of vulnerable children.

It takes a village to raise a child! No child in Stellenbosch may be left behind!

Youth outreach now, more than ever, needs the input of caring individuals to keep our doors open, to get (and keep) children in schools and to prevent a street child problem from plaguing Stellenbosch town center again, as it did in the late 90's. Your input can make all the difference!
